Literary Society at St. Thomas’ College of Law organized a successful documentary screening in the memory of Late Ratan Tata on 24 October 2024, titled “Mega Icons- Ratan Tata” followed by an insightful class discussion. The event commenced with an introduction speech delivered by Dr. Harsh Kushwaha, Assistant Professor (Convener, Literary Society), who set the tone for the proceedings. This was followed by an insightful and thought-provoking address by Dr. M.K. Tyagi, Dean of St. Thomas’ College of Law, who shared his reflections on the life journey of the late Ratan Tata, highlighting his contributions and leadership in the corporate world. The documentary highlighted Tata’s contributions to the Indian economy, his leadership at the Tata Group and his role in social initiatives and philanthropy. The screening offered a comprehensive understanding of how industrial leadership intersects with societal development, inspiring students to critically engage with Tata’s philosophy of corporate responsibility and nation-building. The class discussion that followed encouraged students to analyze Ratan Tata’s impact through legal, political and economic lens. Several key topics were debated, including the influence of ethical leadership on corporate governance, Tata’s contributions to poverty alleviation and his role in promoting India’s global presence. Students were particularly intrigued by his strategic investments in technology and sustainable development. Overall, the event not only deepened students’ appreciation of Ratan Tata’s legacy but also broadened their understanding of the relationship between business leadership and political structures.
