The St. Thomas College of Law successfully organised a Court Visit Programme on 10 March 2025, providing an invaluable experiential learning opportunity for the students of LL.B. and B.A.LL.B. Under the expert coordination of Mr. Aman Pandey, Assistant Professor, the visit to Tis Hazari Court, Delhi, aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical legal education and its practical application in the judicial system.
The visit offered students a first-hand experience of courtroom proceedings, allowing them to witness the functioning of various courts, including the Family Court, Mediation Cell, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court and the Negotiable Instruments (NI) Court. Observing live cases, they gained insight into the complexities of legal practice, the roles of advocates, judges and other judicial officers, as well as courtroom etiquette and procedural formalities.
One of the most enlightening aspects of the visit was the session at the Mediation Cell, where students learned about alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and the significance of mediation in amicably settling disputes. The programme proved to be an intellectually stimulating experience, reinforcing theoretical concepts with practical exposure. It enhanced the students’ legal acumen and professional skills, preparing them for future careers in the legal field.
